DubHacks is the largest collegiate hackathon in the Pacific Northwest, bringing together over 1,000 students to build solutions to problems they're passionate about, alongside ~100 industry mentors and sponsors. Since its founding in 2014, DubHacks has grown from a small campus event into a leading student-run tech and entrepreneurship organization, expanding its programming to include startup support through our partner organization, DubHacks Next (a startup incubator program).
Yes, DubHacks is a 2-day hackathon, and students absolutely have enough time to create high-quality, impactful projects. Many teams continue developing their ideas beyond the weekend through DubHacks Next, our startup incubator program, which provides funding, mentorship, and ongoing support to help turn hackathon projects into real ventures.
While many participants come from computer science backgrounds, DubHacks attracts a highly diverse group of students across disciplines, including Design, Business, Engineering, and more. The hackathon is beginner-friendly, with a wide range of tracks that allow students from different interests and experience levels to find something that fits them. We also host a team formation event, making it easy for participants to meet others with complementary skills and build well-rounded teams.
Companies have introduced a wide range of technologies, including PCs, VR headsets, and API credits for their proprietary tools. Sponsors often complement this by hosting workshops and providing mentorship, helping students effectively build with their technologies throughout the hackathon.
There is strong interest across several areas, particularly AI/ML, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies. Students are especially eager to explore new tools when sponsors provide accessible resources, real-world applications, and hands-on mentorship throughout the hackathon to support their learning and development.
We recommend staying actively engaged with participants throughout the hackathon, whether that's hosting a workshop, mentoring, or sponsoring a challenge. These touchpoints allow your team to directly interact with students, understand how they think, and identify strong candidates. For teams looking to maximize recruiting impact, our higher sponsorship tiers offer additional opportunities such as access to the career fair, resume bank, and premium networking spaces, making it even easier to connect with a broad range of talented students.
Yes, we're happy to work with sponsors to find ways to get involved that align with your budget. This could include smaller-scale sponsorships, mentorship opportunities, or customized engagement options that still provide meaningful visibility and interaction with students.
Popular prizes tend to be high-value, practical, and tech-related items such as AirPods, headphones, speakers, iPads, and gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch.
